Galaxy S7 rumors are likely based on different prototypes and maybe not everything is true

The way the rumor mill has been running recently, you would think the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are set to be the most perfect smartphones Samsung will ever churn out. Water-resistance, a microSD slot, extra large batteries (especially for a 5.1-inch phone), the latest processors, Samsung’s perfect displays, 4GB of RAM, fast and optimized software, brilliant cameras with great low-light performance – everything is said to be part of the S7 and S7 edge for the same price as previous flagships. 2015′s Galaxy flagships neared perfection in many ways, and all the leaks would make you believe Samsung will be fixing all the shortcomings this year.

But before we get all excited (okay, so most of us are already too excited), we should keep in mind that Samsung (and other manufacturers) goes through many prototypes of a flagship before the final product comes out, and even during development, work goes on on different prototypes at all times. All these rumors that have been floating around? It’s likely some of the stuff mentioned in these reports will not make it through to the end of the development cycle.

Samsung has gotten a bit laxed in recent times when it comes to hiding its upcoming devices, but nothing is ever certain until the company makes an official announcement at its Unpacked events, or until people get access to these devices just a day before announcement and decide to reveal everything. For the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, there’s just too much information that seems too good to be true and it’s highly likely some of it is based off prototypes that won’t be the device that will go on sale in the coming month or so.

Our sources often come through with all the titbits they offer us, but at this point even we are not ready to believe that the avalanche of Galaxy S7 and S7 edge information might be spot on. It’s only a few weeks before the two devices are supposedly set to go official, and we should all be prepared for the fact that the S7 and S7 edge might not be the smartphones these rumors are making them out to be.

What do you think? Are you taking all the reports coming out about the S7 and S7 edge seriously, or are you surrounding yourself with salt containers as each new day brings us more details on the devices?
