Reasons why PlayStation VR is RIGHT for you
You are not entering a new category of virtual reality gaming. It’s the continuation of PC vs consoles war. But is PlayStation VR really right for you?
It’s way cheaper than the Vive and Rift
Okay, it’s relatively cheaper. If you’ve been following the growth of virtual reality and how each of the pioneer devices are released, the PlayStation VR is way cheaper at $400. Let’s take a look at its direct competitors:
- Oculus Rift Kit – $600
- HTC Vive – $800
Note that these are driven by powerful PC’s with high end specs and, of course, top of the line components that would range from $800 up when fully built. So, the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive headsets, controllers and sensors is just a part of your overall expenses.
PlayStation VR is driven by PlayStation 4 and its existing set of supported peripherals. You don’t have to build it yourself, you just buy it and turn it on. On top of that, it costs less than a capable VR PC. Sweet deal right? So $400 for the PS VR kit and your PS4 (no need to buy if you already have one).
It’s made by Sony (exclusive game titles)
Let’s take this out of the way, the PlayStation VR is Sony’s attempt to take over another gaming platform, the virtual reality. It’s got a good history and portfolio of successful game title to its name. So if you want the assurance that your platform of choice wouldn’t go wasted due to lack of diverse game titles, the PlayStation VR is a good buy.
Some PlayStation triple A game titles can be easily ported to VR since Sony would just have another version developed for a system that they also own.

It’s more comfortable in long gaming sessions
We can attest to that. The PlayStation VR is the best in ergonomics on any available VR headsets in the market today. Want longer gaming sessions? Then stop worrying that your virtual reality head mounted display will dig into your forehead and cause some annoying lines when you take it off.
The PS VR is padded with the force of anchoring the headset is pushed down on the back of the head and not around the crown.

It’s easier to setup
We’ve been there. New device, new setup. If you’re having a new PS4, hooking it up to your TV is just a couple of just plugging in wires to the proper ports and you’re done. The same thing with the PS VR. You just follow the setup guide and plug in the right connector to its dedicated ports and you’re good to go.
Just a few troubleshooting if it does not work but most of the time, it will. Now that’s easier compared to, say, installing and setting up a PC. If you know nothing, or just don’t like assembling stuff together, the PlayStation VR is your best bet.
