Vine will be closing down soon

Vine is closing down. One of the most influential video sharing platform of this generation will shut down by Twitter in the coming months and with its very short life since 2013, many are left questioning why?

Why is Twitter killing Vine?

Twitter has been issuing layoffs in its Vine department. Yes, Twitter owns Vine. Many of its regular employees will be left to keep some work done and will eventually be looking somewhere else for their new jobs.

We value you, your Vines, and are going to do this the right way. You’ll be able to access and download your Vines. We’ll be keeping the website online because we think it’s important to still be able to watch all the incredible Vines that have been made.

Okay but if you have some Vine videos of your own or just want to watch your favorites all over again, don’t fret. Vine will still be up for a while and will eventually be gone in the coming months. No Vines will be deleted and the company will still be keeping the web client up and running so as to give its avid users time to transition to other video sharing platforms like Snapchat Stories or Instagram Stories.

The social service grew so popular that its “stars” went onto big things with some users starting to appear in TV shows, or transition into YouTube with a huge following. The most popular of these “stars” has been Shawn Mendes, an 18-year-old who was able to reach the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 music charts.

Maybe it’s high time to say goodbye to Vine. Ciao!
