Airpods are not so welcome just yet
Maybe people are just over exaggerating about the Airpods experience. Why is this little wireless earbuds just getting so much hate online? Is it that bad?
AirPods are the branded Apple wireless version of the AirBuds. It will be a great companion to the iPhone 7 whose philosophy is to go wireless in terms of audio experience. But why is it getting so much hate so soon? Let’s look both what’s good and what’s bad about the AirPods and decide if it deserves all the bashing it is getting.
The Design
Actually, the design is not that impressive. To be fair and honest, it looks like a regular pair of AirBuds with cords cut off. Some people may agree with that but compared to what has come out for the last few years of high end wireless earphones, this is just not cutting it in terms of overall great looks. It sits on a white plastic box that also acts as the charger and it’s just plain ugly.
Pairing with the iPhone 7
Since, it’s primarily made for the iPhone 7, the AirPods is intuitive when paired with an iPhone 7. Just open the AirPods’ case and let it come near the smartphone. Simple and easy.
The Price
The price is around USD$160. That is classic Apple overpricing right there. It’s not justifiable when you sit it side by side with products from Sennheiser or Audio Technica who makes great wireless headphones and earphones for that same price. This is not good for this product.
The Sound Quality
Being that it’s a pair bluetooth earphones, the sound quality for the AirPods will be lesser compared to a wired pair of earphones. This may not come as a surprise but bluetooth can’t just be as good as a hard wired earphones when it comes to good audio.
The Common Complaints
Users who have seen how the new AirPods work and look have something to say even if they are yet to buy the product. They know better, all for the fact, that they are consumers. Consumers know what they like and want.
- The new AirPods looks ugly. It’s just a mini toothbrush, a small golf club or a candy cane shoved into the ears.
- The new AirPods is too expensive for the value that it has. It’s like every overpriced Apple product ever made.
- The new AirPods may not work with other smartphones, or even other iPhone models.
- The new AirPods can be easily detached from your ears due to lack of firm anchor to the ears.
- The new AirPods can be easily lost.
