Pokemon GO developer, Niantic have been issuing permanent bans to players who misuse the app and violate its terms of service. These violations include the likes of GPS spoofing, bots and other software tricks that gives Pokemon GO players go out of bounds from Niantic’s design parameters.

GPS spoofing is a trick that makes your smartphone thinks that you’re located elsewhere, allowing you to catch rare Pokemon without even trying to go there.

Bots or auto robots gives the player an advantage to automate certain processes of the game.

Niantic stated on its site that permanent banning of players have many valid causes. They said, “This includes, but is not limited to: falsifying your location, using emulators, modified or unofficial software and/or accessing Pokémon Go clients or backends in an unauthorized manner including through the use of third party software…Our goal is to provide a fair, fun and legitimate game experience for everyone. We will continue to work with all of you to improve the quality of the gameplay, including ongoing optimization and fine tuning of our anti-cheat system.”

The company includes a link to an appeal form for trying to reverse a ban if it was issued by mistake.
