No tricks, but treats a plenty as cycling lights the city

Thousands of people will help light up Sydney and celebrate the grand finale of the City’s Sydney Rides Festival on 31 October at a stunning night ride through the city.

Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the illuminated Light The City bike ride was a great way to see the sights of Sydney from a different perspective.

“This is one of those very special Sydney events, a 2.5 kilometre loop night ride around Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, with bright lighting installations and spectacular views of the harbour,” the Lord Mayor said.

“It will be a great night out, whether you’re a beginner or expert bike rider, young or old, local or visitor.”

Adding to the night’s atmosphere, the City is encouraging people to dress up, and light themselves and their bikes up for a chance to win prizes.

Riders will be able to park their bikes and enjoy the stunning harbourside outdoor lounge, grab a bite to eat from award-winning gourmet food trucks, enjoy live music, a silent disco, interactive video displays and films from the Sydney Rides Film Festival.

Light the City will also include bike hire, valet bike parking, Gold Sprints roller-racing on stationary bikes and ride-through light features and installations along the picturesque course.

A competition will run on the night for the best-dressed and most creative bike lighting, with a selection of prizes, including a $1,000 gift voucher to spend a local bike shop.
