- 1.2.1 Unlike the iPhone, the iPod touch doesn’t have a phone number assigned to it. Because of that, making a FaceTime call to someone using a touch isn’t just a matter of typing in a phone number. Instead, you need to use something in place of a phone number to allow the devices to communicate.
- 1.2.2 In this case, you’ll use your Apple ID and the email address connected to it. That’s why logging into your Apple ID during the setup of the device is so important. Without that, FaceTime, iCloud, iMessage, and a bunch of other web-based services won’t know how to connect to your touch.
- 1.3 Setting Up FaceTime
- 1.3.1 In recent years, Apple has made getting started with FaceTime on the touch much easier than it was when the 4th-gen. touch was first introduced. As long as you log in to an Apple ID as part of the set-up process, you’ll automatically be configured to use FaceTime on your device.
