Powered by the NPU, Photo Remaster upscales low-resolution photos into high-quality visuals, while Storage Share lets users directly access the files on their smartphone from their PC, avoiding the process of downloading.
With productivity comes proactivity, too. When AI and Samsung Health combine, users are empowered to take control of their health and wellness. With AI-driven health insights gathered on the Galaxy Ring and Galaxy Watch, Samsung is helping users make sense of their data and arrive at more informed decisions about their well-being. These new capabilities will further improve the overall experience of Samsung Health, which stands apart as an end-to-end health solution that integrates the entire home seamlessly.
Seamless Entertainment in the AI Era
Samsung’s latest screen experiences, powered by Samsung Vision AI, bring unexpected joy to users’ days through unparalleled personalization and exciting new features. The AI Screen experience infuses intelligence into TVs, bringing Generative Wallpaper, Live Translate and Click to Search to users. At the forefront of this technology is the Neo QLED 8K, which provides the most advanced viewing experiences though AI features like 8K AI Upscaling Pro, Auto HDR Remastering Pro and Color Booster Pro — all of which work behind the scenes to intelligently enhance picture quality. Plus, The Frame’s art experience is expanding, allowing all Samsung QLEDs to come with a digital collection of over 3,000 art pieces, making it so that they can turn any room into a personal gallery.
Samsung’s commitment to its Screens Everywhere strategy is reflected in new display options for its appliances, including its new refrigerators with 9″ AI Home displays and other devices with 7″ screens. Consumers will be able to enjoy heightened functionality — including various entertainment services, AI features such as AI Vision Inside and direct access to the online grocery service Instacart — on a broader range of products.
Taking AI Everywhere
Beyond the home, Samsung’s AI innovations are set to transform new categories and industries with SmartThings Pro. Created to bring the same AI-powered digital solutions to business partners as SmartThings offers consumers, SmartThings Pro is a B2B solution spanning multi-residential homes to retail spaces, hotels, schools and more. Since its launch last June, SmartThings Pro provides businesses with integrations to better understand energy usage, proactively identify devices with maintenance needs and offer comprehensive control of connected solutions. Summary of Samsung Unveils New Refrigerators with Innovative AI Hybrid Cooling Technology at CES 2025
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced it will unveil the new refrigerators with AI Hybrid Cooling technology at CES® 2025, which will be ready to expand into global markets this year. These new refrigerators introduce AI Hybrid Cooling technology, which combines artificial intelligence with innovative cooling methods to meet the diverse needs of modern households.
“Since refrigerators run 24/7, we placed a strong emphasis on developing a cooling system that meaningfully enhances energy efficiency for users,” said Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “With the global unveiling of the AI Hybrid Cooling technology, we are showcasing our commitment to technological innovation in home appliances. We will continue to introduce home appliances that incorporate innovative technologies to make consumers’ daily lives more convenient.“
Optimise Energy Use Through Adaptive Hybrid Cooling
The AI Hybrid Cooling technology combines a highly efficient compressor with a Peltier module,[1] which is a semiconductor device that achieves cooling by harnessing the temperature change arising from the flow of electric current. The introduction of the Peltier module enables the refrigerator to use two power sources together only when needed to efficiently cool the inside of the fridge.
For instance, when significant cooling demand is detected or anticipated — like when many items are added at once after grocery shopping, or when storing hot food or if it’s the hot summer season — the refrigerator activates the Peltier module alongside the compressor. In normal use, however, it relies solely on the compressor to ensure optimal efficiency. During the process, the AI algorithm is designed to detect the current status of the refrigerator and can predict temperature changes inside the fridge to help adjust the cooling mode.
The high-efficiency AI Inverter Compressor[2] also contributes to the efficient use of energy, thanks to an enhanced design that increases the radius of its rotating components.
Extend Freshness with Precise Temperature Control
The AI Hybrid Cooling technology can enhance freshness for perishable foods with Hybrid Precise Cooling, which is designed to reduce internal temperature fluctuations in the fridge when activated — even during the device’s automatic defrost cycles. Since it leverages residual heat from its Peltier module during the defrosting process, it can reduce the chance of excessive temperature fluctuations that can compromise food quality. As a result, the food ingredients can be kept fresher and longer. Tests show that when the Hybrid Precise Cooling is turned on,[3] fresh foods such as pork and salmon can last by up to 1.4 times and 1.2 times respectively,[4] compared to when it is turned off.
Secure More Storage and Everyday Convenience
The refrigerators featuring AI Hybrid Cooling technology redefine space efficiency with an impressive 900-litre capacity,[5] offering enhanced usability while maintaining the same external dimensions. By replacing traditional heating elements with a Peltier module, it can better utilise interior space.
A Step Forward for Home Refrigeration
The refrigerators with AI Hybrid Cooling technology exemplifies Samsung’s dedication to combining intelligent technology, energy efficiency and user-centric design. Making its debut at CES 2025, this innovative appliance is poised to redefine modern home living and lead the way into a new era of AI-applied home solutions.
The availability of Samsung’s new refrigerators with AI Hybrid Cooling technology has not been announced in Australia.
[1] The Peltier module operates under one of the following conditions:
When the temperature in the fridge rises above the normal range.
When AI analyzes the user’s refrigerator usage patterns, predicts the temperature after a certain period, and detects situations like large-scale stocking or cleaning.
[4] Based on the testing by Food Analysis Research Center of Suwon Women’s University and Intertek Testing Services Korea Ltd. Effects may vary depending on refrigerator operating conditions, as well as the type, condition, size, and storage method of the food. Summary of Lift Your Laundry Life: The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo™ Brings Sound Designed To Bring Joy
When people think of a Samsung washing machine, what sound comes to mind? It might be the end-of-cycle alarm, of course. Since most people aren’t near their washing machine when the wash completes, it needs to be long enough to let users notice the washing cycle’s completion and bring a refreshing feeling thanks to the lively tone. Franz Schubert’s “The Trout” has been serving this purpose for over a decade now, evolving from its original functional selection to become a signature sound that is an extension of Samsung’s brand.
But Samsung hasn’t stopped there. This year’s Bespoke AI Laundry Combo offers an entirely different experience, featuring a newly arranged version of “The Trout” with an orchestral twist.
Bo Kyung Kim, a Sound UX designer for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics, shared her insights into the inspiration that went into the design: “Samsung considers sound to be crucial, not just as a functional element but as an integral part of the customer experience and beyond. We redesigned these sounds to go beyond functionality — delivering our brand identity while also aligning with user preferences.”
Bo Kyung Kim, a Sound UX designer of Samsung DA, says that Samsung puts importance on sound to enhance user experience.
“The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo features an orchestra-themed soundscape along with 11 newly added themes designed to captivate consumers’ senses. By selecting a preferred theme, users can personalise power on and off sounds, end-of-cycle alarm and timer notifications.”
Kim explained further, “Creating a sound UX includes theme composition, overall strategy, instrument selection, and consultation with developers to ensure hardware implementation. This was a year-long development journey that certainly had some challenges for us to overcome.”
For instance, when working on “Guitar in the Night Breeze,” the team decided to use acoustic guitar to convey the feeling of a cool evening breeze. However, once the sound was completed and tested on the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, it did not resonate as expected. They had to adjust the echo and reverb levels accordingly, and they carried out continuous consumer surveys to gauge how people felt about the sound as well as the imagery that it evoked.
Moving forward, the Sound UX team plans to create and apply preference-based sounds to other products besides the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo. As Kim put it, “We want to hear people say things like, ‘Oh, this is a Samsung sound!’ and ‘I love that Samsung sound.’ We are really trying to bring joy to people’s daily lives as they use our appliances.”
These new sounds exemplify how Samsung Electronics carefully crafts how you experience its appliances, taking care of everything you see, touch — and even hear. To find out more about how you can uplift your daily life in this and other ways, visit Samsung.com.
