Want to turn off iPhone for whatever reason? Newer iPhone models have a different method of shutting down the device to turn off the iPhone compared to earlier model devices. This article will show you how to turn off iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and iPhone X.
Note that turning off the iPhone literally turns it off completely by shutting it down. When the device is powered off it will not be able usable in any way until it is turned back on again.
How to Turn Off iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, X
Turning off a newer model iPhone without a Home button is accomplished by holding down a button sequence to access the power off option. Here is how to turn off iPhone XS Max, XS, XR, and iPhone X:
Hold down both Volume Up button and Power / Lock button until you see āSlide to Power Offā at the top of the iPhone display
Swipe the slider right on the āSlide to Power Offā option to turn off the iPhone
The iPhone will power down and turn off completely. It will stay turned off until it is turned back on again.
Another Option for Turning Off iPhone: Shut Down via Settings
Another option is toĀ shut down the iPhone or iPad through Settings, which does not require pressing any hardware buttons, but does still require using a slide to power off gesture:
Open the āSettingsā app then go to āGeneralā
Scroll down to the bottom of General settings and tap on āShut Downā
Swipe on āSlide to Power Offā to shut down the iPhone
How to Turn On iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, X Again
If the iPhone is turned off, you can turn it back on again using either of the following methods:
Pressing the Power / Lock button on the side of the iPhone
Plugging it into a power source
These methods of turning the shut down iPhone back ON apply to all iPhone models, including iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, X, and even other iPhone models like iPhone 8, 8 Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 6, 6 Plus, SE, 5S, and prior iPhones too.
If the iPhone wonāt turn on, then read these troubleshooting stepsĀ to fix that. Note that hardware damage can prevent an iPhone from turning back on again, so if the iPhone is damaged or destroyed then it may need repair first.
Turning off the iPhone and turning it back on again can also be used as a method to perform a soft reboot of the iPhone. Hard reboots are immediate and less graceful and are a different process, though performing a hard reboot differs per iPhone (and iPad) model. If necessary you can readĀ how to force reboot iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR,Ā iPhone X,Ā iPhone 8 and 8 plus,Ā 7 and 7 plus,Ā force restarting iPad Pro, andĀ how to force reboot all iPhone or iPad with clickable Home buttonsĀ which includes basically all older model devices and all modern devices where the Home button can physically be pressed down.
Pelican may not be one of the first names you think of when it comes to rugged iPhone cases ā but it really should be. The company has a long and solid history of making rugged and protective equipment cases that are used in everything from field photojournalism to military and law enforcement, but many people may not realize that the company also makes a line of iPhoneĀ cases that bring the same quality and durability the company is known for to your mobile devices. Pelicanās Shield for iPhone XS Max is the companyās flagship example of this ā itās a five-layer case thatās goes well beyond the āmilitary gradeā drop protection that most companies advertise, promising to be up to three times strong than the MIL-STD 810G spec.
The Shield combines Kevlar fibers, hard polymers, and soft rubber for a case thatās both protective and solid without being overly bulky, with a shock absorbing interior shell, reinforced corners, and of course not only full button coverage, but also protection for the Lighting port at the bottom. The iPhone secures into the case using a two-piece design with three latches that hold the front frame solidly in place while still being easy to open when you want to remove the iPhone, and an included holster provides an easy way to clip your iPhone onto your belt in any orientation while still keeping it easily accessible. On top of this, the case is backed by Pelicanās lifetime guarantee, offering free replacement if the case itself breaks. Shield is available in black and white for the iPhone, XR, XS, and XS Max, plus a gray version for the iPhone XR.
The infamous iPhone XS charging bug and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection problem should be gone now.
Apple has released iOS 12.0.1 for iPhone and iPad users. The new small software update resolves multiple bugs present in the prior build and is thus recommended for all iPhone and iPad users who are running iOS 12.
iOS 12.0.1 fixes a variety of problems, including where the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max were not charging properly when connected to a Lightning cable, an issue with iPhone XS models joining a slower wi-fi band, an iPad keyboard tweak for the ā?123ā key, an issue with Bluetooth becoming unavailable, and an issue with subtitles not appearing on some videos. Additionally, some security fixes appear to be included in the iOS 12.0.1 software update. The full release notes are included further below, along with direct download links for iOS 12.0.1 IPSW files.
How to Update to iOS 12.0.1
Most iPhone and iPad users will find that updating to iOS 12.0.1 is easiest with the Software Update mechanism on their devices.
Be sure toĀ back up your iPhone or iPad to iCloudĀ and/or iTunes before installing any system software update.
Back up your iPhone or iPad if you have not done so already
Open the āSettingsā app and go to āGeneralā and then to āSoftware Updateā
Choose to āDownload and Installā when iOS 12.0.1 shows as available
Installing any iOS software update requires the device to reboot.
Users can also update to iOS 12.0.1 by connecting an iPhone or iPad to a computer with iTunes and choosing to update software that way.
iOS 12.0.1 IPSW Download Links
Direct download links for iOS 12.0.1 firmware files are included below, each link points to the appropriate IPSW file on Apple servers.
Using IPSW files to update iOSĀ requires iTunes and a computer, it is considered advanced but itās not particularly complicated. Nonetheless the majority of iPhone and iPad users are better off using the built-in software update mechanism which is a simpler experience overall.
iOS 12.0.1 Release Notes
The release notes accompanying the iOS 12.0.1 download are as follows:
iOS 12.0.1 includes bug fixes and improvements for your iPhone or iPad. This update:
ā Fixes an issue where some iPhone XS devices do not immediately charge when connected to a Lightning cableĀ
ā Resolves an issue that could cause iPhone XS devices to rejoin a Wi-Fi network at 2.4 GHz instead of 5 GHzĀ
ā Restores the original position of the ā.?123ā key on the iPad keyboardĀ
ā Fixes an issue where subtitles may not appear in some video appsĀ
ā Addresses an issue where Bluetooth could become unavailableĀ
ā For information on the security content of Apple software updates, please visit this website:Ā https://support.apple.com/kb/HT201222
If you do not yet see the iOS 12.0.1 software update available yet, or the Software Update section is stuck on āchecking for updatesā¦ā try quitting and relaunching the Settings app.
Similarly, if you see an āUnable to Check for Update ā An error occurred while checking for a software updateā simply trying again momentarily typically resolves that issue.
When going to install the iOS 12.0.1 update youāll have to agree to Terms and Conditions, which the iOS update process sometimes appears to freeze or get stuck on the āTerms and Conditionsā agree / disagree screen. If that happens, force quit out of the Settings app and try again. You also may need to restart the iOS device before the Terms and Conditions screen will dismiss properly in some situations.
The iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, and iPhone XR have new and different methods for force restarting these model iPhones, due to the fact that none of these models have a Home button. Initiating a forced restart on these new iPhone models may be different and slightly more complicated than before, but itās still easy enough that even a novice user can master the method.
If youāre already accustomed to the procedure for force restarting iPhone X or force restarting iPhone 8 then youāll be in familiar territory because forcibly restarting all of those devices is the same as force restarting the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR.
How to Force Reboot iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max
You must press the buttons in the proper sequential order for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR to force restart successfully. If you do not follow the proper process, the device will not force restart. Hereās how force restarting these model iPhone devices works:
Press Volume Up, then release that button
Press Volume Down, then release that button
Press and hold down the Power / Lock button on the right side of iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XR
Keep holding the Power / Lock button until you see an  Apple logo appear on the display of iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, or iPhone Xr
If you do not see the Apple  logo, then you did not successfully force restart the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, or iPhone XR, and youāll want to repeat the process again.
The onscreen Apple logo should look like this after a successful force restart, demonstrating the iPhone XS Max / iPhone XS is starting up again:
You may need to keep holding the Power button for what feels like a while before the Apple logo appears on the screen, itās a much longer hold on that button than any of the others which just need a quick press and release.
If you failed to forcibly restart the iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, or iPhone XR, simply repeat the steps above until you succeed. Press and release Up volume, press and release Down volume, then press and hold Power button until you see the Apple logo. Pretty easy, though yes it is different from many earlier model iPhone devices.
While this is how you force restart an iPhone XS and iPhone XR, you can also apply other methods to simply shutting down the devices, like using the Settings approach to shut down an iOS device, without even touching any buttons, which you can then turn back on. A standard shut down and startup is NOT the same as force restarting an iOS device however.
An improper attempt at forced restarting an iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max will likely result in something like a screenshot being taken, so if that happens then you did something wrong as obviously a screen capture is not in the process of force rebooting.
While this approach is the same as force restarting an iPhone X and iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, it is different from force restarting iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7, which is also different from force restarting any iPhone or iPad with a Home button. While there is some fragmentation in the approaches to force restarting for now, presumably all future iPhone and iPad models will have no Home button or alternate methods of force restarting and will then therefore all fall into line with how the process works on iPhone XS Max and other new iPhone XS and iPhone XR models.
Why force reboot an iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max?
The primary reason most users will ever need to force restart an iPhone XS Max or iPhone XS or iPhone XR is if the device is frozen, unresponsive, or crashing. Itās a very common troubleshooting trick that often remedies many iPhone (and iOS) issues.
The force restart procedure interrupts whatever is going on with the device to forcibly reboot it. This can lead to data loss from current apps and onscreen activity however, so you should not forcibly reboot if youāre currently engaged in something on the screen that is important or unsaved.
The iPhone XS Max is 25 percent larger than any previous iOS handset. So how is it as an iPad mini replacement?
Apple stopped updating the iPad mini a few years ago because sales dropped off at the release of the first iPhone Plus model. Seems lots of people prefer a large-ish smartphone to a small tablet, even if the iPad is bigger than the iPhone.
And now thereās the iPhone XS Max, Appleās biggest smartphone ever. So we explored using one as a replacement for an iPad mini 4.
We compared the two devices when doing the tasks we originally purchased a small tablet for: reading ebooks, playing games, and social networking.
iPhone XS Max is big enough
The most obvious difference between these two is size. The iPhone XS Max is a big phone, but not as big as the iPad mini 4. The screen in the handset is 16.1 square inches, while the tabletās is 30.0 sq. in.
But tech specs donāt tell the whole story. While the iPhone is smaller, itās big enough for most of the jobs we asked it to do. Realistically speaking, the 6.5-inch display is as good as the 7.9-inch one for reading ebooks. Thereās more page flipping, but thatās not a significant drawback.
The same goes for social-networking sites like Facebook and Instagram. The experience isnāt as good as the larger screen. But itās good enough.
Appleās latest handset has an OLED screen which is genuinely usable outdoors, even in bright sunlight. You can read your ebook or catch up on your social-networking feed by the pool, something the traditional LCD in the iPad mini makes very challenging.
In this particular size comparison, the iPhone XS Maxās weakest area is games. Itās easily big enough for casual games, but itās not the best experience for something likeĀ Fortnite. That said, we consider the iPad mini barely adequate for graphic-intensive gaming.. RPGs and other games with elaborate visuals really look better on a full-size iPad. Still, playingĀ Hogwarts MysteryĀ on a 6.5-inch XS Max is a far better experience than using the 5.5-inch screen in the iPhone 8 Plus.
Realistically, thereās not much of a difference in resolution between the phone and the tablet. Sure, the iPhone crams 458 pixels into each inch, while the iPad has āonlyā 324, but it takes a magnifying glass to see one is better than the other.
iPhone XS Max has far better performance
Apple computers donāt become obsolete anywhere near as quickly as rival devices, but remember the iPad mini 4 came out in 2015. It runs a 1.5 GHz, dual-core A8 processor with 2GB or RAM.
Compare that to the blazing-fast 2.49 GHz hexa-core A12 Bionic chip in the iPhone XS Max. And donāt forget the 4GB of RAM.
Benchmarks really show the difference between these two. Primate Labsā Geekbench 4 test for multi-core performance gave the iPad mini 4 a 2,849, while Appleās newest phone scored a 11,157. In a graphics test, the tablet scored 4,842 and the iPhone XS Max got 21,777. These two devices arenāt even in the same ballpark.
That said, processor speed doesnāt make a huge difference for ebooks or social networking. But youāll see a big improvement with any kind of game. If your graphics-intensive shooter is painfully slow to load, try it on the XS Max.
Cost considerations
A direct comparison of the price of these two devices doesnāt make much sense in this case because anyone who has an iPad mini 4 is still going to need some model of iPhone. And that has to be included in the cost comparison.
Adding to the complication is the fact that Apple hasnāt released a new iPad mini since 2015. If you already have oneĀ Ā you canāt replace it with a better, faster 7.9-inch iPad. There isnāt one. And we really donāt recommend paying $399 for a device thatās very nearly obsolete.
But Apple used to sell the iPad mini by the million, soĀ weāre assuming most of the people reading this article already have one and are now considering buying one of the 2018 iPhone models. So the question weāre trying to answer for people is, if you got an iPhone XS Max, could you quite worrying that you canāt get a good replacement for your old iPad mini? And our answer is: almost certainly.
iPhone XS Max is always with you
Itās typical to start out doing something in your iPhone, but then move to a larger device if the handsetās screen starts feeling cramped. Youāll find that doesnāt happen very often with the iPhone XS Max. Youāll read your email and check Instagram, or maybe read a chapter of the mystery youāre in the middle of, without it ever becoming worth the hassle of getting up to grab the iPad mini.
That said, the iPhone XS Max isnāt your best option for an afternoon of gaming. If youāre planning to regularly spend hours absorbed in a top-tier title, at least consider the 9.7-inch iPad that debuted this spring. Itās only $329, and is better than any iPhone or iPad mini for graphics-heavy play.
But neither iPad is anywhere near as portable as the iPhone XS Max. Itās a big phone, no doubt. It doesnāt fit in most womenās front trouser pockets. Still, it goes in menās front pockets, and anyone can put it in a back pocket. The iPad mini 4, by contrast, isnāt pocketable at all. Youāre going to need some kind of bag for it.
Thereās an old saying: the best computer is the one you have with you. And you iPhone is always going to be with you. The iPad mini, on the other hand, is something extra you have to remember to bring.
iPhone XS Max: Fast, fluid, great camera, forever battery and amazing screen. What more do you need to know?
Having been the proud new owner of the iPhone XS Max for a few days, Iāve gotten a feel for the device.
iPhone XS Max is fast, fast, fast
Everything is very fast and responsive. Apps spring right open. Photos scroll without delay. Maps render without a hiccup. Everything is basically instantaneous, and itās a joy.
Itās all thanks to the A12 Bionic chip. Apple is so far ahead in mobile chips, itās head-spinning. One benchmark shows the iPhone XS is faster than the new iMac Pro, a $5,000-plus pro workstation!
Itās definitely not too big
Sometimes bigger really is better.
For such big phone, it doesnātĀ feelĀ too big. Having used an X all last year, and liking it, I thought the Max would be too big. But it doesnāt feel as big as the old Plus iPhones used to. It feels very thin and light. My daughter compared it to a magical tablet from a sci-fi movie, and sheās right.
The battery lasts forever
iPhone XS Max battery life is excellent. I only charged it for about 30 minutes all weekend and it was fine, despite near constant use. I used it most of the day Friday, fast charged it for about half-an-hour Saturday, used it all day, and finally fully charged it Sunday morning. The battery lasts forever. The seemingly endless battery life of the Max is one of its most impressive features.
iPhone XS Max camera
The camera on the iPhone XS Max is a marvel.
The camera is excellent, especially the new Portrait mode with advanced bokeh and Depth Control. The Max is less a phone, and more an advanced, near-DSLR camera with a cellular connection. Itās basically magic to take a Portrait Mode photo and then adjust the background blur afterward. Smart HDR is great, too. My photos are so much better.
The big screen is amazing
The screen is so big and clear, thereās no need to take your laptop or iPad on flights any more. The Max will do nicely.
It deserves to be caseless
Despite dropping my old iPhone X numerous times, it has just a few scuffs and no cracked screen (it was, however, often in a case). But this time, because the Max is so thin, Iām going to try it caseless for a while. Iād like to enjoy Appleās design for a change, without a bulky wrapping. (I know; I may regret this later.)
Upgrade using iMazing
DigiDNAās iMazing is the best way to transfer all your data and apps to a new iPhone.
DigiDNAāsĀ iMazing softwareĀ is the best way to transfer to a new iPhone that I know of. Faster and easier than iTunes or iCloud backup, itās a seamless way to transition to a new device. Just plug in your new phone and your old phone, and the $44 software sucks everything right over.
If you just got an iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max, you almost certainly will want to migrate everything from your old iPhone to your new one, so that your all of your data, contacts, photos, messages, notes, apps, and all other personalized data and stuff is transferred over to use on your new iPhone XS / Max.
This walkthrough will show you the fastest way to get all of your data from an older iPhone to a new iPhone XS Max or iPhone XS with iTunes.
Our focus here will be on using iTunes and a computer to transfer data from one iPhone to another because for many people using a USB cable and iTunes will be the fastest method of backing up and transferring data. You could use iCloud if you want to and happen to have an incredibly fast and reliable internet connection, but for most people iTunes will offer the quickest setup with getting all data over to their new iPhone XS or iPhone xS Max.
To get started, youāll need the latest version of iTunes (12.8 or 12.6.5) on a computer (Mac or Windows PC), a USB Lightning cable to connect the iPhones to the computer, an active internet connection, and enough free hard disk space on the computer to store the iPhone backup on the computer.
How to Transfer All Data to iPhone XS / iPhone XS Max from Old iPhone
In the examples here we will demonstrate transferring data from an iPhone Plus to a new iPhone XS using iTunes.
Start by connecting the old iPhone model to the computer with a USB cable
Launch iTunes on the computer, then choose the connected old iPhone by clicking on the tiny iPhone button near the top of the iTunes window to select the device
Under the Summary section of the device in iTunes, look for the backup section and choose āThis Computerā and be sure to check āEncrypt iPhone Backupā
Now choose āBack Up Nowā to create a fresh backup of the old iPhone connected to the computer ā let this backup process complete
Next, on your brand new iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max, start going through the onscreen setup steps as usual on the device, eventually youāll get to the āApps & Dataā screen
Select the āRestore from iTunes Backupā option at this screen, then connect the iPhone XS Max or iPhone XS to the computer running iTunes with a USB cable *
In iTunes you will see a āWelcome to Your New iPhoneā screen, choose the āRestore from this backup:ā option and then choose the backup previously made of the old iPhone to iTunes, click āContinueā when the proper backup is selected
The backup restoration process will begin, this can take a while depending on the size of the device size, expect somewhere around an hour per 100GB backup
When the iTunes restore process has completed, complete the setup steps on the iPhone XS Max or iPhone XS, youāll be using your new device with all data transferred over in no time
All of your data, messages, notes, photos, movies, videos, contacts, health data, settings, and everything else will have been successfully transferred to your new iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max.
One thing to note is that apps will re-download as part of this process, since apps are no longer backed up to iTunes by default on the main iTunes release track (iTunes 12.8) though you can use the alternate release track (iTunes 12.6.5) if youād like.
Remember to use the āEncrypt iPhone backupā setting, as this preserves your Health data as well as passwords, logins, and other important details in the iTunes backup. If you fail to encrypt the backup, you will need to enter all passwords again, and your health data will be lost.
iCloud vs iTunes Restoring from Backups
* To be clear, while weāre using iTunes here, you can also use iCloud backups or the optional Quick Start setup process to complete the entire migration and data transfer from an old iPhone to a new iPhone XS Max / iPhone XS. But using iCloud has a potential disadvantage in that how long it takes to complete is entirely dependent on your internet connection speed. For example if you have a 100 GB iPhone backup stored in iCloud, then downloading and restoring that 100 GB from iCloud to an iPhone can take half a day or evenĀ several days to completeĀ on many typical home-based US internet connections, and most people wonāt want to wait nearly that long before they can use their new iPhone (a 3 mbit/s DSL internet connection will take roughlyĀ 80 hoursĀ to download 100 GB!). But if you happen to have some modern world internet connection because youāre in a region of the world that has decent internet infrastructure with 100 mbit/s internet speeds, then using iCloud is easy and suitable, the entire process is basically the same except youāll choose an iCloud backup to restore from rather than iTunes. Nonetheless, due to the huge variability in internet speeds, iTunes is often faster for most iPhone users since it uses a wired USB connection to complete the data transfer process.
iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max come packing a brand new A12 Bionic chip with greatly improved performance and sound, as well as Appleās best displays and even better designs. They can also juggle two SIM cards simultaneously.
Meanwhile, the new iPhone XR delivers the flagship iPhone look and some of the best features from iPhone XS at a more-affordable price.
iPhone X marked āthe future of the smartphone,ā Apple told us last September. It sacrificed beloved features like Touch ID in favor of an all-new design with a stunning Super Retina display and Face ID. It was a gamble that paid off for Apple.
Despite its $1,000 price tag and controversial ānotch,ā iPhone X consistentlyĀ outsold every other iPhoneĀ in Appleās lineup since it went on sale last November. It alsoĀ earned praise from fans and critics, and scored aĀ 98 percent customer satisfactionĀ rating last quarter.
One year on, itās hard to imagine going back to big bezels and buttons.
Itās no surprise, then, that this yearās iPhones follow suit. The iPhone X has been retired. And in its place, Apple unveiled today the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR. They all look like last yearās flagship at first glance, with edge-to-edge displays and smooth glass fronts and backs āĀ but theyāre bigger, better and more powerful in every way.
iPhone XS Max and iPhone XS.
Meet Appleās new iPhone lineup
iPhone XS is āby far the most advanced iPhone we have ever created,ā said Apple CEO Tim Cook duringĀ todayās Gather Round keynote. Itās available in two sizes: A 5.8-inch model that replaces iPhone X, and a 6.5-inch model that shows Apple hasnāt forgotten about iPhone Plus lovers.
Both feature OLED screens with support for Dolby Vision and HDR10, with a 1-million-to-1 contrast ratio, 120Hz touch-sensing, True Tone and 3D Touch. They also offer a wider and richer stereo sound experience, Apple says.
Theyāre the first iPhones to offer dual-SIM functionality, allowing users to juggle two numbers simultaneously. Thatās thanks to a traditional SIM card slot and a built-in eSIM that can be connected to a whole bunch of supported carriers.
In China, where the eSIM canāt be supported yet, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will ship with two SIM card slots.
A12 Bionic will blow you away
iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are powered by an A12 Bionic chip ā the industryās first 7-nanometer processor. Itās packed with 6.9 billion transistors, with a 6-core CPU and a 4-core GPU thatās up to 50 percent faster.
Apple has also introduced a new 8-core Neural Engine thatās dedicated to machine learning. Last yearās A11 Bionic was capable of processing 600 billion operations per second, but the A12 can process a staggering 5 trillion in the same time.
This new Neural Engine allows for improved Portrait mode in the Camera app, even better Animoji, and more immersive augmented reality experiences. Face ID also works faster than ever before, thanks to faster algorithms and a snappier secure enclave.
Appleās best cameras
The iPhone is the worldās most popular camera. Apple helped its handset secure this crown by delivering the best smartphone shooters every year. The cameras packed into iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are its best yet ā and they deliver jaw-dropping results.
Appleās new iPhone XS cameras.
There are two sensors on the back of each device: one 12-megapixel sensor with a wide-angle lens and an f/1.8 aperture, and one 12-megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens and an f/2.4 aperture. Thereās also an improved True Tone flash, and twice as many Focus Pixels.
Thanks to an improved image signal processor, which works alongside the Neural Engine for the first time, the new iPhones can identify faces and bodies when youāre taking a photo and automatically apply adjustments like red-eye reduction.
By far the most impressive feature of Appleās new cameras is called Smart HDR. It works by capturing numerous frames every time you take a photo to get the best white balance, highlights, shadows, different exposures, and more.
It then analyzes those images, picks out the best bits, and merges them to produce that āone perfect photo.ā All of this happens at lightning speed, and itās incredibly impressive.
Even better designs
Both the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are protected by the most durable glass ever installed on a smartphone, and they have an improved IP68 rating for dust- and water-resistance. They also last longer than their predecessors in between charges.
iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will be available in gold, silver and space gray with up to 512GB of storage. Prices start at $999 for the smaller model, and $1,099 for the larger model. Youāll be able to order them this Friday, and theyāll start shipping September 21.
iPhone XR brings the color
iPhone XR delivers the āiPhone X experienceā at a more affordable price. Itās powered by the new A12 Bionic chip and sports a gorgeous edge-to-edge display just like its siblings, only this time, itās an LCD screen.
iPhone XR is a beauty.
Itās the most advanced LCD ever packed into a smartphone, Apple says, and itās called the Liquid Retina display. The screen measures 6.1 inches diagonally, making it bigger than an iPhone 8 Plus display, but the device itself is smaller.
iPhone XR has just one camera, but itās the same 12-megapixel camera found in iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. That means you get the same great performance, optical image stabilization, and the improved True Tone flash.
Apple even managed to deliver Portrait mode for iPhone XR, despite just one sensor.
iPhone XR is made from 7000 Series aerospace-grade aluminum thatās finished in either white, black, blue, coral, red or yellow. It also boastsĀ an IP67 rating for dust- and water-resistance.
Prices start at $749 with 64GB of storage, but 128GB and 256GB models will be available. Youāll be able to order iPhone XR next month, and it will start shipping October 26.
