Summary of New Samsung Electronics Report Reveals Major Generational Shift in Home Appliance Trends

Samsung Electronics Australia has today released the Australians @ Home Report: 2024 Smart Living Edition. The report’s findings reveal a generational shift in the perception of home appliances, particularly with Gen Z and Millennials.
According to the report, younger Australians are redefining what it means to have a stylish, yet functional home. No longer is an appliance a device for a particular purpose or use, but an object of status, and in some cases, attraction.
While appliance aesthetics are becoming a priority, the data also reveals that looks aren’t everything. Practicality amid a cost-of-living crunch also plays a major role in their purchase decision, increasing demand for a new category for smart, high-value appliances.
“Our Samsung Australians @ Home Report: 2024 Smart Living Edition reveals Millennials and Gen Z are leading the charge in redefining what it means to own and showcase home appliances,” said Jeremy Senior, Vice President – Consumer Electronics, Samsung Electronics Australia. “These insights demonstrate a clear generational divide. While energy savings are crucial for everyone, younger generations prioritise sleek design and smart AI functionality.
“At Samsung, we’ve been building intelligent connectivity and customisation into our appliances for over a decade to bring meaningful value to Australian lives. Though innovation, we’re able to offer all Australians appliances that can adapt, and increasingly learn individual preferences, to offer experiences that suit their unique lifestyles and meet their needs in a way that makes them proud.”
Appliance Envy is Rising
Having the latest technology or the coolest gadgets has been a leading trend for decades but hearing a friend rejoice over the latest fridge or vacuum hasn’t been common, until now.
As social media usage continues to generate an influx of ‘foodie’ cooking trends, it’s no surprise to see that the humble fridge is emerging as a particular source of personal pride. One quarter (25%) of Australians and over a third (34%) of Gen Z say they’re more likely to invite people over if they have a fancy fridge, highlighting a growing trend for modern appliances that are seen as status symbols, and how a stylish home environment is becoming a key factor in creating core memories.[4]
The data also suggests a rising sentiment of personal pride and envy attached to our appliances, particularly with younger people. Just as Australian’s may take pride in their lawns or barbeque set-up; the data shows similar affections being adopted towards household appliances.
More than a quarter (28%) of Australians say they prefer visiting friends and attending events in homes with modern, luxury or smart appliances. One quarter (25%) of all Australians and just under a third (32%) of Gen Z also say they feel embarrassed or judged for outdated or mismatched appliances.[5]
Interestingly, over a fifth (22%) of all Australians and a striking 36% of Gen Z say they’re even more attracted to people with luxury appliances, with some even expressing an emotional attachment to their appliances. This compares to 51% of Boomers who see appliance as ‘what they are’ and are least likely to discuss their appliances with friends compared to other generation.[6]

Practical elements more important than ever as cost-of-living bites
The rising desire for stylish appliances is balanced by the need for practicality, as cost-of-living pressures continue to dominate Australian households. Where aesthetics meets convenience, the findings show a new ‘high value’ appliance category emerge – sleek appliances that also make everyday life easier.
This comes as the Australians @ Home Report: 2024 Smart Living Edition shows that over half (51%) say high energy consumption is their number one appliance-related frustration, and almost all (94%) are making accommodations in the home to save energy amid the challenging economic climate.
Samsung’s SmartThings app bridges the gap between aesthetics and practicality by seamlessly connecting users to their appliances and allowing appliances to interact with each other. The app, alongside features like SmartThings Energy helps balance style and efficiency, promoting sustainable practices in modern homes.
Consumers are turning to smart, connected devices that save time and energy. Appliances like Samsung’s Bespoke AI Heat Pump combo can help address Australian’s number one appliance gripe – high energy consumption. Consuming up to 60% less energy with AI Energy Mode during the wash cycle[7][8] and 20% less during the dry cycle when compared to using the same cycle without AI Energy Mode; the range offers a smart, efficient choice for those looking to maximise potential savings on energy costs while maintaining a stylish and efficient home.[9]
While all generations are looking to reduce their carbon footprint, boomers, according to the report findings, are the most energy-conscious generation. This generation make additional effort to keep energy consumption down such as turning off devices (62%), using LED light bulbs (44%), and only using air conditioning or heating when it’s abnormally hot or cold (53%).

AI for all: paving the way for a bright, modern smart home
AI’s growing presence in home devices is captivating consumers, with the report showing a rising appetite for smart technology.
Australians recognise that intelligent appliances have the biggest impact when they’re linked together as part of an ecosystem, and they demonstrate a fast-growing taste for more intelligent and connected smart home experiences.
“While almost half of Australians (47%) have told us that AI-enabled features are a priority when it comes to new appliances[10], it’s Gen Z Australians who are really pushing the boundaries of what’s expected from their home appliances.
“This generation can see the potential for appliances with AI technologies to empower them to take control of things that matter most to them, such as energy management and food waste reduction. Samsung is invigorated by Australian consumers’ appetite for stylish, connected and customisable appliances, and looks forward to continuing to provide solutions that reshape industry standards,” Mr. Senior concludes.

Summary of IFA 2024: Samsung showcases the power of its AI products to create a connected world for all
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. took to the stage at IFA today, celebrating 100 years of innovation at the conference, to continue its vision “AI For All.” The presentation showcased Samsung’s bold commitment to democratise AI, enabling more people to benefit from its uses.
Further expanding the AI for All vision, the conference included chapters “AI For the World” and “AI For You” where speakers from across the company and its partners demonstrated the critical role AI plays in improving users’ quality of life, equipping them with tools they can use to enrich their lives.
“Since our presentation at IFA last year, discussions around AI and its role in our lives have grown significantly,” said presenter, Benjamin Braun, Chief Marketing Officer, Samsung Europe. “At Samsung, we are proud to make AI more accessible and understandable, showing how it can simplify life rather than complicate it. We believe AI should act like multiple pairs of helping hands, meeting the needs of its consumers and the world beyond them. Our AI-enabled products allow people more time to focus on the things they care about.”
Benjamin Braun, CMO Samsung Europe, highlighting AI for All on stage at IFA 2024
AI For All
Samsung’s AI for All spans a wide range of its AI enabled products, from mobile devices, home appliances and home entertainment systems. By the end of 2024, Samsung expects there will be 200 million Galaxy AI-enabled devices in users’ hands. Samsung understands its AI features need to adapt to how consumers want to live.
Central to this is the expanding SmartThings ecosystem, which connects over 500 million devices[1], offering seamless remote control of all Samsung AI-enabled products, from turning the heating on or off, managing all SmartThings compatible appliances when home or away and navigating Samsung TVs.
Never before has it been so easy for people across the world to use of the power of AI to take control of the world around them. Samsung AI enable products give this power to its users, allowing them to curate their everyday experiences. Whether striving for more sustainable living, expanding creativity or connecting with their loved ones.
However, according to research commissioned by Samsung, only 15% of consumers said they have a full understanding of how AI can be used in their daily lives and yet 66% of us are looking for ways to create more time. This shows a clear opportunity for Samsung AI to give back to people, and why AI is for All.[2]
Rolling out alongside IFA, the latest operating system upgrade, One UI 6.1.1, will expand AI possibilities on the Galaxy S24, Z Fold5 and Flip5[3]. This rollout of One UI 6.1.1 will include brand new apps which bring more opportunity for creativity and connection. Features include Sketch to Image, which allows users to visualise their ideas through image options generated from a simple drawing, and Portrait Studio which propels creativity by helping users create a more personalised avatar to use online.

This technology upscales on-screen content up to 8K to deliver Samsung’s sharpest and smoothest picture yet.[8]
The latest developments in The Frame and Art Store were also celebrated at IFA with the announcement of several new partnerships. Along with collaborations with Finnish design house Marimekko and Jean-Michel Basquiat, Samsung introduced an exclusive collection of 12 masterpieces by Belgian surrealist René Magritte. These partnerships enable users to bring extraordinary art into their homes, adding a touch of magic to their everyday surroundings[9].
Samsung is creating simple user experiences through its Bespoke AI appliances, which now offer enhanced Bixby voice control features. These upgraded capabilities[10] mean that Bixby can now understand multiple commands in one sentence, recall previous interactions for personalised responses and provided answers to product related questions. Bixby also opens up greater control and accessibility benefits for users, as it allows people to use the Auto Open Door feature on selected Samsung washing machine and refrigerator models by simply saying “Bixby, open the door.”
AI For The World

Summary of Samsung Launches Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo, an Innovative All-in-One Laundry Solution
Sporting efficiency and design-forward innovation, the Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo delivers intelligent AI washing capabilities to help simplify cleaning routines.
Set to revolutionise the laundry experience, the Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo enables Australians to save up to 60% less energy during wash cycle and 20% less energy during dry cycle with AI Energy Mode.[1]
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. continues to push the boundaries of innovation with the expansion of its Bespoke AI laundry range, introducing the new Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo – a first-of-its-kind large-capacity washer and dryer unit available nationally in Australia. This advanced all-in-one appliance not only combines the convenience of a washer and dryer but also integrates cutting-edge AI technology to help transform laundry day into a seamless experience[2].
Equipped with a 7-inch display and SmartThings[3] connectivity, the Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo is poised to redefine household efficiency, offering AI intelligent features, and space-saving laundry solution Samsung has developed yet.
“Our new Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo uses AI innovation to learn your usage patterns, and provide recommendations to help care for your clothes to help you do more in less time,” said Jeremy Senior, Vice President, Consumer Electronics, Samsung Australia.
“The Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo embodies Samsung’s broader Bespoke AI commitment to make homes more functional to suit individual needs, and enhance and simplify everyday life with advanced AI technology. This new all-in-one washer and dryer combo unlocks another level of value and convenience beyond the laundry, by helping to monitor energy usage and aligning chores to suit Australians schedule. It’s about adding convenience and efficiency to your routine, so you can focus on what matters most.”
All-in-One Laundry Solution for Hassle-free Laundry Experience
Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo seamlessly integrates a washer and dryer into a single unit for space-saving convenience and comparable performance by utilising Samsung’s efficient Bubble WashTM and Heatpump Drying Technology.
The all-in-one design seamlessly integrates an ultra-large 18.5kg smart washer with a 10kg smart heat-pump dryer allowing for consumers to enjoy the convenience of fewer loads so they can spend more time doing the things they love.
As an efficient and space-saving laundry solution, the new all-in-one washer and dryer delivers the ultimate convenience of washing and drying in one unit without the need to transfer loads between two machines. It even fits a king size quilt, so consumers can fit a huge load of clothes to help save time with comparable cleaning performance.
Providing further convenience to Australians homes, the Super Speed Cycle is set to revolutionise how Australians complete their washing and dryer routines. Consumers can now clean and dry their clothes in just 98 minutes[4]via the Super Speed Cycle, which can wash a 3KG load in 28 minutes and dry a load in 70 minutes using Heat Pump technology. This dries clothes gently at a low temperature to ensure clothes stay in pristine condition.
Elevating the Laundry Experience at Home with AI
A key feature of the Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo is the AI Opti Wash & Dry,[5] which sets a new standard for laundry efficiency. This advanced system uses a range of sensors to optimise both washing and drying for each load. Upon sensing the weight of the laundry, it accurately dispenses the right amount of water and detergent[6]. It also detects the fabric and monitors the level of soiling during the cycle, and adjusts washing time and detergent use accordingly. After the wash cycle, the technology customises the drying process based on the weight and type of fabric, helping to ensure excellent cleaning and drying results. With AI Opti Wash & Dry, Australians can benefit from a thorough, efficient and personalised laundry experience to suit their needs.
Energy Efficiency that puts you in control
As energy costs continue to rise, 94% of Australians are making adjustments in their homes to save on energy consumption[7]. With this growing concern in mind, Samsung has designed the Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo to provide an efficient laundry solution without compromising on efficacy. As part of its commitment to revolutionising the laundry experience, Samsung enables Aussies to save up to 60% less energy during a wash cycle and up to 20% less energy during a dry cycle when using the AI Opti Wash and Dry cycle with AI Energy Mode[8] switched on, accessible via the SmartThings App[9]. Through the SmartThings App, consumers can also monitor energy consumption in real-time, receive an estimated electricity bill, and even get alerts if their usage exceeds the pre-set target, ensuring greater control over household energy use[10].
Additionally, the Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo features an impressive 10-star dryer energy efficiency rating[11], thanks to Heat Pump technology[12]. Instead of relying on electricity, it uses a refrigerant to heat the air, recycling it to significantly reduce energy usage[13]. All these features combined can help Australians stay on top of their energy consumption and make smarter choices for their homes.
Blending style with performance
With Australians seeking sleeker appliances, Samsung has designed the Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo with both aesthetics and functionality in mind. With a 7-inch wide touchscreen display and intuitive controls, the screen acts as a control center where one can monitor detergent levels, remaining time on the laundry cycle and energy usage making for a more efficient laundry experience. When the wash or dry cycle is finished, it provides an energy and water consumption estimate report that can be viewed on the LCD display or the SmartThings App[14]. Additionally, the screen offers a clear view of the 3D Map View, which shows all connected appliances[15] within the home and enables Australians to seamlessly monitor, turn them on or off, as well as being able to check if the air conditioner is on, or get the robot vacuum cleaner to start cleaning, all while being in the laundry.
Availability
The Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo is currently available for pre-order via Samsung’s online store and select retailers nationwide. It will be available for purchase from 12 September 2024 with RRP starting from $5,499.00.

Summary of Samsung Smart Forward Updates to Elevate Functionality, Future-Proofing and Safety of Home Appliances
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the new features that will be provided via Smart Forward, Samsung’s over-the-network updates for home appliances,[1] which will roll out to select devices throughout the second half of this year.[2] These Smart Forward updates — designed to breathe new life into existing appliances through new functionality, future proofing and enhanced safety and energy savings — are the latest step forward in Samsung’s journey to deliver optimal experiences to more users.
“After years of R&D with a relentless focus on the home user experience, we are thrilled to be rolling out more Smart Forward updates to our earlier released appliances around the globe,” said Miyoung Yoo, EVP and Head of the Software Development Team, Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “With the enhanced functionality and improved security provided by Smart Forward, the home experience can truly take a step forward.”

New Functionalities Alter Kitchen Experiences
The Smart Forward updates introduce an array of new functionalities designed to help enhance the user experience and appliance performance. The Family Hub, a touch screen panel installed on the 4-Door French Door Refrigerator[4] for food management, entertainment and communication, will now come with Quick Share, Buds Auto Switch[5] and Fridge Call[6], new features that are designed to significantly improve connectivity and usability.[7]
Quick Share makes sharing memories and recipes while in the kitchen easier than ever by allowing users to quickly send photos to the Family Hub screen directly from their mobile device[8] with just a few clicks.
Finally, Australians can receive phone calls with Fridge Call directly on the Family Hub using its microphone and speaker, eliminating the need to move to a different room to find their phone. This is especially convenient when users’ hands are occupied to cooking, cleaning and dishwashing, making it much easier to multitask while remaining connected. Perhaps best of all, these new features will be available on refrigerator models with Family Hub produced from 2017 onward rather than new models only.
Quick Remote,[9] an additional feature in which a user’s mobile phone becomes a remote control for connected Samsung appliances, is being expanded across refrigerators produced since 2023, regardless of whether they include a Family Hub screen or not.[10] Other connected appliances include washing machines and air conditioners also produced since 2023.[11] All users need to do is simply move close to a SmartThings-connected appliance,[12] and a remote control menu for the appliance will appear on the quick panel of the Galaxy phone screen being used. This seamless integration ensures that users can control their home environment with ease.
Future-proofing Home Appliances to the Next Level
Apart from making the user experience more seamless, Samsung is also focused on future-proofing existing appliances. The upgraded Bixby[13] will understand commands with multiple intentions and remember the most recent conversation.[14] This advanced functionality transforms the way users interact with their appliances, making voice commands more intuitive and responsive.[15] Samsung is also providing the update to two products launched in Australia in 2024: Bespoke AI Laundry Combo and, Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI.
Additionally, Bixby now opens doors for 2024 refrigerators with Family Hub upon verbal request, without the need for wake-up commands like “Hi Bixby.” Users can simply say, “Open the refrigerator door.” This functionality offers users an incredible level of convenience and hands-free operation.[16]
Jeremy Senior, Vice President – Consumer Electronics at Samsung Australia said: “Our local research tells us that 98 per-cent of Australians are prioritising good value appliances above all else[17]. For 50 years, Samsung has delivered appliances that are built to last. Now our focus is taking that one step further by helping those quality products do even more for longer. Enabling our smart appliances to recognise how we live and learn to be one step ahead will bring meaningful value to our everyday lives.”
In terms of safety and energy-savings, Samsung is rolling out updates to older models — including refrigerators made as far back as 2021 — because the importance of safety does not diminish with time.[19] After an event of a power outage and once resumed with power, refrigerators are designed to detect and notify users via the SmartThings app when internal temperature is high, making users aware of potential issues that could affect the freshness of their stored food.
Additionally, users can now choose different chimes for open door notifications, giving them greater control over their appliance settings. Furthermore, users can maintain a peaceful home environment by putting ice makers in sleep mode, preventing them from working during the night and creating the disruptive sound of ice falling into the tray while users sleep.
Bespoke AI Heat PumpCombo will also see an Optimal Scheduling function added. This feature delays the start of the appliance to not have it run during peak energy usage hours or periods of high carbon intensity has been added to Bespoke AI Heat PumpCombo[20]. Additionally, the 7-inch AI Home on the Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo is designed to automatically switch to power-save mode during wash cycles, further assisting with smart energy savings.[21]
These updates reflect Samsung’s broader strategy of providing value to customers by enhancing the products they already own. By continuously improving the functionality and performance of its appliances, Samsung ensures that users do not have to worry about their devices becoming obsolete. This approach not only helps safeguard customers’ investments but also aligns with the company’s efforts to reduce the need for frequent replacements.
Samsung’s updated home appliances will be showcased at IFA 2024 in Berlin, Germany, from September 6 to 10, where visitors will be able to see and experience each feature.

Summary of Samsung Elevates Food Experience at IFA 2024: A New Standard in Smart Dining
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced new features and updates for Samsung Food[1] — a personalised, AI-powered food and recipe platform — to celebrate its first anniversary, all of which will be showcased at IFA 2024. Since its debut at IFA last year, Samsung Food has garnered over six million users,[2] becoming an essential tool for meal planning and cooking in the modern home. The platform’s most popular features include Recipe functions, Shopping List, and Meal Planner.
“In combining our staple kitchen appliance innovations with new AI technologies, we’re able to simplify everyday experiences such as the process of making dinner. Currently, Australians spend up to 20 hours a week on household tasks including building shopping lists and researching recipes. Unsurprisingly, 9 in 10 Australians have told us they’re interested in kitchen technologies that assist with meal planning and prepping. Samsung Food helps Australians rediscover their passion for cooking by making meal planning and preparation easier, so they can spend less time on life admin and more time on the things they love.” said Jeremy Senior, Vice President, Consumer Electronics at Samsung Australia.

Personalise your plate with customised food experiences
Samsung Food is a holistic food platform available on various Samsung devices, including and beyond home appliances. Samsung Food+, the premium subscription service[3] of Samsung Food, elevates the experience by integrating a health profile and goals, providing personalised meal plans with recipe recommendations. And now, AI is being added to bring streamlined benefits to consumers around the globe.
Samsung is making food preparation more convenient by rolling out the Vision AI technology for Samsung Food+, which allows users to add items to their Food List by simply snapping a photo of their food items with a smartphone. This functionality means that users owning Bespoke refrigerators with a Family Hub screen[4] without AI Vision Inside — the internal camera that recognises food items that goes in and out of the fridge — can now also easily add items with photos to their Food List.
Other benefits of the Samsung Food+ subscription service include automatically adding purchased ingredients to the Food List when users check out at the store or online, and searching for recipes based on the contents of the Food List. Users can also get alerts to help them use the items before the manually set use-by-date, helping reduce food waste.
Samsung Food+ further provides the meal plans based on users’ Food List to support sustainable food practice goals by personalising each plan based on the ingredients in users’ Food Lists, prioritising those nearing use-by-date. And with the new “Search with Your Food List” feature, recipes using the ingredients listed in their Food Lists will show on top of the search results to help users with ideas on what can be made with what they have. Recipe recommendations are also provided based on the Food List. And whatever has been used from the Food List is recommended to add on the Shopping List. This intelligent approach helps inventory maintenance and reduces food waste while ensuring fresh, tasty meals.

Reach Health and Wellness Goals with Personalised Meal Plans
Samsung Food now features enhanced tools designed to support users to better maintain their health and to reach wellness goals. The platform provides nutrition-focused meal plans that track and monitor caloric intake within daily meal schedules, whether for recipes or individual food items. It offers “Tailored for You” plans[5], delivering weekly recipe and snack recommendations based on users’ nutritional needs[6], chosen diets and previous recipe preferences. The system tracks macronutrient intake within daily meal plans and allows customisable calorie and macronutrient targets for individual health objectives. While Samsung Food users receive three days of recommendations per week, paid and subscribed Samsung Food+ users benefit from a full week of recommendations, with the intelligent platform also factoring in the manually set use-by-dates of ingredients.

Based on the meeting notes, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced that they will enhance their voice assistant Bixby with improved AI capabilities in home appliances. This will allow for better comprehension of complex commands in natural language and easier device control for users. The update will first be available for five products launched in 2024, including the AI Family Hub French Door Refrigerator, Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo, Bespoke Slide-in Range, Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI, and Bespoke AI WindFree Gallery Freestanding Air Conditioner.
The upgraded Bixby will have three main capabilities: understanding complex commands (Multi-Intent), recalling previous conversations (Multi-Turn), and responding to product-related questions (Device Q&A). Additionally, it will enable users to control other devices connected by SmartThings with more natural language commands. Bixby is also designed to remember past conversations and provide assistance to users when they encounter problems while using compatible appliances.
Samsung plans to exhibit the Bespoke AI appliances featuring the upgraded Bixby at IFA 2024 to showcase how it will enhance the user experience. This upgrade aims to create a richer consumer experience through improved AI capabilities in home appliances.
Summary of Samsung Elevates AI Home Life with Upgraded Voice Control in its Bespoke AI Appliances
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced that it will update its voice assistant Bixby[1] with enhanced AI in home appliances.[2] Bixby will have a comprehension ability that better understands complex commands based on natural language[3], providing easy device control for users.
“At Samsung, we believe that the power of a connected home goes beyond convenience – it’s about creating meaningful experiences that enhance the quality of everyday life for Australians. With the enhanced AI capabilities of Bixby in our home appliances, we’re making it easier for consumers to interact with their devices, allowing them to control their home environment with personalised commands. This advancement underscores our commitment to innovation that truly resonates with consumers, enabling them to live smarter, more efficient lives.” said Jeremy Senior, Vice President, Consumer Electronics at Samsung Australia.
Samsung launched multiple home appliances with AI features earlier this year, such as the AI Family Hub French Door Refrigerator featuring AI Vision Inside,[4] Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI with upgraded AI Object Recognition,[5] and Bespoke AI Laundry Combo with AI Home.[6] Taking another step forward, Samsung aims to create an even richer consumer experience by introducing new features.
Bixby: Better Voice Control for Appliances
The upgraded Bixby enables better voice control through three main capabilities[7] — understanding complex commands (Multi-Intent), recalling previous conversations (Multi-Turn) and responding to product-related questions (Device Q&A).[8] Samsung is providing the update to five products launched in 2024 first: the AI Family Hub French Door Refrigerator; Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo; Bespoke Slide-in Range[9]; Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI; and Bespoke AI WindFree Gallery Freestanding Air Conditioner.[10]
The upgraded Bixby can understand commands that consist of multiple or unrelated requests in one sentence. Consumers can control other devices connected by SmartThings[11] with the upgraded Bixby as well, so they can express their needs more naturally than before. For example, consumers can ask the Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo, “Hi Bixby, set the wash cycle to Super Speed” and Bixby will process the command. [12]
Bixby is also capable of remembering contexts of past conversations,[13] allowing users to engage in ongoing dialogues with devices rather than issuing isolated commands. If consumers say to the AI Family Hub French Door Refrigerator, “Hi Bixby, tell me what time the family dinner is today” and Bixby responds to it, users can follow up and say, “Then set the washing machine to finish one hour before that.”[14]
Lastly, it can provide assistance to users when they encounter problems while using compatible appliances or become curious about certain cycles or features. When the screen on the appliance shows an error code, users can turn to Bixby to ask what it means instead of searching through the user manual or contacting the call center. They can ask questions like, “Hi Bixby, I can hear clicking noises in the fridge, why is that?”, and Bixby will provide several answers. Appliances with screens, such as refrigerators with AI Family Hub or the Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo, will display the response on the screen, while appliances without screens will provide audio responses.
Samsung plans to exhibit the Bespoke AI appliances featuring the upgraded Bixby at IFA 2024, allowing more people to experience and understand how it will enhance the user experience.

Interest in Galaxy AI among non-Samsung users
Galaxy AI has transformed the mobile AI experience for consumers in SEAO and has introduced new possibilities to everyday life. In fact, four out of five non-Samsung users in the SEAO region would consider Samsung Galaxy smartphones for their next upgrade, and the top driving factors for this are the latest Galaxy AI features, as well as how relevant these features are to them as users. In particular, non-Samsung users in SEAO find Generative Edit, Circle to Search and Live Translate as the most appealing Galaxy AI features.
“We are thrilled by the positive reception and high adoption of Galaxy AI features by Samsung users across the SEAO region. Through the One UI 6.1 update, we are bringing Galaxy AI to selected Galaxy devices, and providing powerful mobile AI experiences to as many users as we can.
As this study shows, Galaxy AI is generating interest and excitement beyond current Samsung users, and we are strongly committed to continue delivering AI-first experiences across our mobile devices to empower users and enrich their lives.
Consumers can look forward to new and innovative mobile AI experiences, as we further refine the Galaxy AI experience for our upcoming devices and Galaxy ecosystem,” said Carl Nordenberg, VP & Regional Head of Mobile Experience Business, Samsung Electronics Southeast Asia and Oceania.

Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI: the All-in-One solution for powerful and effortless cleaning
Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI with enhanced AI features
The Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI is an AI-powered vacuum and mop robot cleaner that is set to bring further convenience to Australian homes. The Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI transforms home cleaning with its unique all-in-one vacuum and mop capabilities. The new all-in-one vacuum and mop robot cleaner cleans more effectively[3] with the all new Integrated Clean Station Steam+ which auto-empties dust[4], thoroughly washes and sanitises the mop pads[5] with hot water[6], and dries them with hot air[7], it then sprays steam on them to help reduce 99.99% of certain harmful bacteria[8] and reduce unpleasant odours, enabling hygienic maintenance from start to finish. The powerful spinning mops work at an impressive 170 RPM on average to actively scrub off even the most stubborn stains.
The new Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI aims to deliver intelligent cleaning capabilities to simplify cleaning routines, keeping itself ready for action by automatically refilling its onboard water tank and recharging its battery. This innovative, fully autonomous system is set to ensure Australian homes stay clean with minimal effort, making it a standout choice to support busy Australian lifestyles.
Smart AI Features for a Spotless Home
The high performing Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI includes AI Object and Stain Recognition, by using Al capabilities[9] and with the in-built camera, it can recognise[10] spaces, objects[11] and stains[12] to provide Australians with a superior cleaning experience. Additionally, the all-in-one vacuum and mop robot cleaner incorporates a Stained Area Deep Cleaning feature to identify stains on the floor. Once the vacuuming is complete, it returns to the stained area with mop pads heated with steam and water[13] for a thorough clean.
Furthermore, the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI can even sense the floor type to provide enhanced cleaning, using a feature called AI Floor Detect. It distinguishes between hard floors and carpet, and then automatically boosts its 6000pa of suction power which helps to vacuum up deep-lying dust in carpets. Furthermore, it helps prevent consumer’s carpets from getting wet and being contaminated by dirty mop pads. When the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI detects carpet or a rug, it determines whether to lift up the mop pads or to detach them at the Clean Station to minimise cross surface contamination.
Effortless cleaning with seamless connectivity
Consumers can control and monitor the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI remotely using the SmartThings app[14] on their compatible smartphones. With four different cleaning modes[15] the all-in-one vacuum and mop robot cleaner can be scheduled to clean either a single or multiple rooms. Using the dToF LiDAR senses the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI creates a layout[16] of the home and converts it into a 3D map[17], even including appliances and furniture. Controlled via the SmartThings app, it can be used to custom-define virtual “no-go” zones such as the bathroom, the veranda or the entrance, to ensure it avoids designated areas.
Furthermore, with Live Cleaning Report, consumers can easily track the movement of the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI on a virtual map of their homes in real time. Consumers can see where it has cleaned, and even pause or instruct it to stop cleaning. Once it has completed cleaning, users can check its cleaning history to see which areas have been cleaned, how long it took, and which path it followed.
The all-in-one vacuum and mop robot cleaner also offers Bixby[18] voice recognition capabilities, meaning consumers can simply speak[19] and the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI commences its cleaning routine. Using voice commands busy Australians can schedule it to work remotely, instruct it to clean, empty its dust bin and locate its current position in the home, simply through the SmartThings app to ensure the home is pristine at all times.
