Samsung has a habit of offering exclusive color options for its flagship smartphones in select markets across the globe. Taiwan happens to be one of those markets. After launching the Pink Galaxy S8+ there earlier this year, Samsung has now launched a Star Pink color option for the Galaxy Note 8 in Taiwan.
The Galaxy Note 8 will be widely available in four color options – Midnight Black, Maple Gold, Orchid Gray and Deep Sea Blue. Star Pink appears to be exclusive to Taiwan. Samsung has a good reason for offering the handset in this color.
This is a particularly popular color with customers in Taiwan. According to a report, 30 percent of all smartphones sold in the country are touting some shade of pink. This is why it makes sense for Samsung to offer this color option in Taiwan.
The pink color isn’t just limited to the back panel. The metal frame is pink and so are all of the buttons. The same color has also been applied to the handset’s S Pen.
Everything else remains the same. It’s the same Galaxy Note 8 handset with its Exynos 8895 processor and exceptional 6.3-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display.
The price remains the same as well. Customers in Taiwan can purchase the handset for TWD 34,200 or $1,075.

Motorola recently announced the launch of a special version of Moto G5, the Moto G5S Plus. The G5S Plus was launched alongside the Moto G5S at an event in Delhi on 29 August.
The key highlight of the G5S Plus is the unibody metal design carved out of a single block of metal, in addition to the dual camera setup on the back. The Moto G5S, despite its dual rear camera feature still falls in the relatively budget segment of devices.
However, Moto G5S Plus isn’t the only game in town. Offlate, a lot of companies such as Xiaomi and parent company for Motorola, Lenovo, Huawei, and Coolpad have launched the Xiaomi Mi 5X, Honor 6X, Coolpad Cool Play 6 and Lenovo K8 Note in the market. To be fair, Xiaomi has not launched the Mi 5X in the Indian market but the smartphone is expected to launch in the coming week.
Dual camera setup may or may not result in an improved quality of images that users shoot using the camera. The implementation of dual camera setup may vary depending from device to device and from manufacturer to manufacturer. Usually, the configuration of the camera depends on the pricing of the device and what features the smartphone manufacturer is promising. Smartphone makers are capitalizing on buzz words like ‘Dual camera’ as more and more people may think that Dual-camera setup is much better than a single-camera setup.
With the launch of Moto G5S Plus after the launch of Coolpad Cool Play 6 and upcoming launch of Xiaomi Mi 5X on the horizon. We thought that this is the right time to compare all the budget smartphones with dual camera setup available in the Indian market. So for our comparison, I choose the Moto G5S Plus, Xiaomi Mi 5X, Lenovo K8 Note, Huawei Honor 6X, and Coolpad Cool Play 6. All these smartphones are around the same price point and target the budget smartphone buyers. We wanted to check out which is the best smartphone with a Dual-camera setup. One thing to note here is that the comparison here takes into account, the specifications of the smartphones on paper which may vary from the real world performance of the devices. You can check all the specifications of the smartphones that are part of this comparison below.
So for our comparison, I chose the Moto G5S Plus, Xiaomi Mi 5X, Lenovo K8 Note, Huawei Honor 6X, and Coolpad Cool Play 6. All these smartphones are around the same price point and target the budget smartphone buyers. If you are in the market to buy an affordable smartphone with a dual-camera setup, then this story is for you. One thing to note here is that the comparison here takes into account only the specifications of the smartphones and we are yet to do a full review to talk about the real world performances of these devices. You can check all the specifications of the smartphones that are part of this comparison below.
Conclusion
Comparing the specifications of the smartphones in this comparison, the hardware in almost all the devices is very similar to each other. No device stands apart from each other in terms of processor and the Dual-camera setup. However, comparing just the specifications of the smartphones does lead me to believe that Coolpad Cool Play 6 edges past the others. Mind you, I am purely speaking from the comparison chart above. The real world performance may be very different for the phone and we still have to test that.
The reason for this is because the device matches the competition in the base-line specifications but it does hold its own offering Snapdragon 653 and 6 GB RAM for a price of Rs 14,999 in comparison to Snapdragon 625 in G5S Plus and Mi 5X, Helio X23 in K8 Note and Kirin 655 in Honor 6X. The competition offers 4 GB RAM when compared to Cool Play 6. However, there is no option to expand storage on the Coolpad Cool Play 6.
Honor 6X is the only device that offers a variant with 6 GB RAM and it is priced at Rs 15,999. Cool Play 6 also offers the largest battery life with USB Type-C. Mi 5X is the only smartphone in the list that is expected to pack a USB Type-C port. One thing to note here is that almost all the devices in this range sport a camera setup where one camera sensor captures images in RGB while the second camera sensor captures images in monochrome mode.
Every so often, we’d take a peek at a mid-ranger device and the most popular chipset out there would be the MediaTek Helio P10. Ah, that octa-core processor seemed like it would be everywhere forever, even when the Helio P20 came along and was adopted with some trepidation.
Well, if anything should “kill” the Helio P10, it will be MediaTek itself: the Helio P23 and Helio P30got their launch today with a focus on dual-camera signal processing, dual-SIM VoLTE and superior efficiency with their 16nm fabrication. Both retain eight Cortex-A53 core designs with speeds anywhere up to 2.3GHz.
The Helio P23 is set to support dual image signal processing with maximum twin image sizes of 13 megapixels. It has the Mali G71 MP2 GPU with speeds of 770MHz inside. Power efficiency, when compared to the Helio P20, goes up by 15 percent.
The P30 gets fancier with the same GPU clocked up to 950MHz, a 16-megapixel maximum on image processing and a new Vision Processing Unit with 500MHz dedicated to ISP. The dedicated chip can help with live bokeh effects on video and other heavy tasks, leaving the rest of the system free for other processes. Efficiency improves from the P25 by 8 percent.
The P23 will be available to OEMs worldwide and the P30 to Chinese companies from the fourth quarter.

HTC has submitted a new trademark application in both Europe and the US, specifically requesting the use of a new name: Vive Focus.
First revealed at Google I/O 2017 developer conference, both HTC and Lenovo announced they were building standalone VR headsets for the Daydream platform. Neither headset revealed its perspective name, only showing concept art and a black silhouette for HTC’s new headset.
Today, the Dutch publication LetsGoDigital (via VRFocus) brought the trademark applications to light, which were initially filed on September 8th. While HTC still hasn’t said anything on the matter, leaving some doubt about whether the naming scheme is indeed intended for the standalone headset, Google had said the devices will launch later in 2017. With the holiday season fast approaching, we’ll have a definitive answer either way soon enough.

The standalone Daydream VR headsets are said to include inside-out positional tracking—a decisive upgrade over the rotational-only tracking of the smartphone-powered Daydream View headset. Using a computer vision-based sensor system, that the company is calling ‘World-sense’, the tracking tech won’t require any external beacons or sensors to enable a room-scale mobile VR experience.
Both HTC and Lenovo standalone headsets are basing their work on Qualcomm’s ‘VRDK’ reference device, unveiled at Google I/O in May. We got a hands-on with an early prototype of Qualcomm’s VRDK standalone headset, and despite the fact that it was essentially one year-old tech at the time, Road to VR executive editor Ben Lang said that when left to roam a 10 foot diameter circular carpet, that the tracking was pretty robust. More importantly, the reference design clearly showed the signs of integrated eye-tracking, which puts the Focus naming scheme in a different light. If the supposition is true, it would mean Focus was named specifically to sell the benefit of eye-tracking to consumers.

We have to say, it’s a little strange that the firm has waited until now to introduce compatibility for the Gear Fit2 Pro and Gear Sport, considering the former started shipping to some customers in Europe on September 9.
The Gear Sport is scheduled to be released in the region on October 27.
For those in need of a refresher, the Gear Fit2 Pro is essentially a waterproof variant of the Gear Fit 2, while the Gear Sport is a fitness-orientated wearable designed to bridge the gap between the Gear S3 classic and Gear S3 frontier.
HMD Global has been rolling out new Nokia devices with great regularity, but the best part seems to be their dedication to updating the phones on a reasonable time schedule. In fact, the Nokia 5 has been the first phone to get security patches for a few months now, often before Google releases them for their own devices. They’re hoping to capture a huge portion of the budget phone market too, as the upcoming Nokia 2 is slated to be budget-friendly.
Noted leaker Evan Blass has tweeted a series of press renders for the upcoming device, showing that it will be available in black and white.
Nokia 2 Specs – Rumored
4.7-inch to 5-inch 720p screen
Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 or 212
1GB of RAM
8GB storage
8MP rear camera
5MP front camera
4,000mAh battery
Given the phone’s low specs it’s likely that it will be reasonably priced and will never see the light of day in the US. That’s unfortunate, but what I think is even more unfortunate is that a budget phone like the Nokia 2 has a bigger battery than some of the most recent flagships.
Like many manufacturers, ASUS has its own Android skin – ZenUI. Version 4.0 of the skin was introduced alongside the company’s ZenFone 4 lineup, but ASUS also promised to bring the new version to the existing ZF3 series. The update process has now begun, with the ZF3 Zoom becoming the first device to be updated.
If you’re not familiar with it, ASUS is advertising ZenUI 4.0 as “smarter and smoother than ever.” The new version trims down the number of pre-installed apps from 35 to 13, and it has a new minimalist interface. It doesn’t look any closer to stock Android, but it’s not terrible by any means. And in case you were wondering, this isn’t Android Oreo, but Oreo on the ZenFone will also use ZenUI 4.0
ASUS says the system update will roll out globally over the next week. You can find more information at the source link below.
